Karyn Heald has worked on Mt Hutt Ski Area for 18 seasons as well as Mt Hutt Helicopters for the last couple of years. Skiing has been a passion for a long time and dogs for probably just as long. Karyn trained Tarn’s mum “Sierra” up to operational status however she was sadly killed in an accident which accelerated Tarn’s training. Tarn likes her boyfriend Granville very much – too much actually as when she went on heat a couple of years ago, both dogs took it upon themselves to jump over 6 ft fences to consummate their love and the result was 8 black and golden lab puppies. This hiccup in Tarn’s training had a silver lining however as the 2 new search dogs to the fleet (Ben & Ayla) are both from this litter. Karyn is just happy that Granville is a pedigree golden lab (Tarn has good taste) and that the Jack Russell from around the other corner didn’t quite have the leg length to get over such a high fence! |
